Ruined fortress, west of Tingri, Tsang Province
The Tingri Plain, while largely empty apart from small villages, is the site of numerous ruined fortresses, of which this is an example. These stand as evidence of the warlike history of the Tibetan people, in stark contrast with their present peaceful habits. This slide was taken in the late morning and has not been altered.
